A grocery bagful, and obviously of the used/pre-distressed variety, as collected during a walk with Oxley this afternoon alongside a nearby roadway, where they'd landed at the curbs after being "snowplowed" during our recent short winter weather event. Granted it was an unscheduled walk for Ox, up and down sections of sidewalk we actually drove to then parked at in a handy lot, but nevermind that -- it is actually quite the "normal" fate for these things the first time plows run after they've been installed anywhere, as they are literally just *glued* down to the roadway surface to begin with.
And I'd noticed that stretch of road was freshly "littered", and so I did my civic duty and "de-littered" it of them while Ox enjoyed an extra field trip. ;-) ;-) It's not like they'd get collected for reuse -- they *aren't*, ever -- being cheap enough things they'll just put down more one of these days (or not) amongst those that survived the plows and remain intact, the next time they work on that road. NOTE ALSO the general state of most of these which evidences their method of disturbance -- nearly universally missing bits and chunks, ifn's they are actually any more than *just* bits and chunks...???
As can be seen, they're small molded plastic lump shaped things around 4" wide, with reflector strips set into their edges. The yellow ones mark the boundary of opposing traffic lanes or road edges as seen from both directions (that one needs to stay to the *right* of) and the white ones mark lines between lanes traveling in the same direction, showing white if you are going the correct direction or red if not. Some here are seen upside down, with remaining blobs of black glue-goo and/or bits of pavement asphalt still stuck on them.
Once I sort the mostly intact ones out, they're destined for recycling by joining some more mostly red/white ones that have lined one side of my driveway since they got 'collected' a year or two ago. (which I don't think I've ever shown here??) I'm happy there are so many yellow ones in this bunch, so I might stand a chance at driveway ornamentation that's actually MUTCD compliant, too...?? <lolol>
