I would love to know the name of this pattern please. Rosenthal, Germany said that it is pre 1934. Any information gratefully received

      Hi, oatibix. :-)

I used replacement dot com's tool to search their site with one of your photos, and bingo!:

      *snip*

Pattern: Woodland Birds by Rosenthal - Continental

BTW, I saw an eBay listing for a Rosenthal Woodland Birds serving dish that initially puzzled me:

      *snip*

Vintage Rosenthal Aida Oval Covered Serving Dish Woodland Birds Pattern Selb Bavaria

This is a beautiful covered serving dish made in Germany by Rosenthal in the Woodland Birds pattern. Measures 12.75 inches in length from handle to handle and 6.75 inches in width. Depth is approximately 1.5 inches.

It turns out that the "Aida" reference was to the shape of the piece. Rosenthal made more than one pattern in the Aida shape, e.g.:

Thank you all so much! I obviously don’t have the research skills I thought I have!! The China is a family set that was my father’s mother’s and she died in 1931 so I knew it was old and was probably part of a dowry. Thank you all

      oatibix, You're welcome. :-)

That tool at replacements dot com doesn't always work, but when it does, it's great.

So, possibly part of your grandmother's dowry. Cool. <3
