    This chair has no makers mark but is marked Patented Feb. 1898. Still sturdy and complete. Just caught my eye.

      Am I correct that the seat and back are hinged together at their rear/bottom? That's a kinda cool old design different from most of the similar looking old wood folding chairs I think I've seen (and have a pair of) that might even be (marginally?) safer?!

      Yes it is hinged totally different than most I've seen and is very sturdy. The seat folds up and makes the unit very flat.
