That's a red colored "safety light" from a (genuine film type) photography developing lab in the ceramic lamp, isn't it? And VERY cool Herons to see, just a couple days ago I saw a small group of more ordinary ducks that'd decided to cross the (reasonably busy?!) street from the lake in my neighborhood and invade somebody else's freshly mowed front yard...they usually aren't brave enough for that and are content to stay on the actual lake side of the street in other folks' backyards. As far as 'jacob's ladders' go -- I don't see one of those anywhere in your pics, though I have one...as in the very real (and ridiculously dangerous) 15KV-ish things that make those classic bZZZtt-bZZZZZZtt-bZZZZZZZZtt electrical spark lightshows always in the background of anybody ever's depiction of a 'mad scientist's laboratory'...?? <lol>
