A few hand sewn items from my mother-in-law's estate. No clue how old they are but there's a collar, a doilie, and two little towels (which have delicate hem stitching). Pretty and detailed work! Must've been tedious, I respect it! Welcome comments! Thanks!

      Hi, JoeyC. :-)

      Beautiful.

It looks like the first two pictures are of the same item, which was tatted (as opposed to sewn, woven, darned, crocheted or knitted).

      About tatting:

The doily in your third and fourth pictures has an embroidered center, and a crocheted border.

I'm not too sure whether the technique used to make the knotted fringe on the towels has a specific name.

Keramikos - THANK YOU for the interesting & helpful info. I read the tatting article; I had no idea. Amazing. According to the article earlier work often used thinner thread (before 1920s); perhaps the collar is an "earlier" piece. Again, much appreciate your response!

Beautiful handmade items, that lacy collar is gorgeous. She was a very talented lady

      JoeyC, You're welcome. :-)

Tatting seems to be one of the less well-known crafts in the 21st century. It's actually very similar to macrame:
