This is a Japanese porcelain Sometsuke vase by Makuzu Studio with doble gourd form. The Motif could be the mythical island where the immortals live? Riding the tiger (mind) and offering books and things to the Ho Ho bird maybe meaning dominating the mind and reaching wisdom through knowledge represented by the book offering.?

Thank you very much. I agree with you, looks like this one was done at the beginning of the Yokohama kiln when he was starting there with just a couple of apprentices. I couldn’t put the age because the mark was not in the known marks.

i don,t know what is going on to be honest,it haven,t got much distinction in in the blue ware overemphasing in the blue lining of the mountains , application of the mark is unknown to me, and i got hundreds of the marks

      I JUST DON,T KNOW

you got a better than excellent collection of japanese porcelain

I actually quite like this, I like gentle curves of the gourd form and subtle blue.

Thank you very much for your comments. I like the form too very much. Kozan was fond of this form too and he signed many of his early pieces with marks inside gourds too.
