Found in my Grandmothers Curio Cabinent

Found in my grandmothers curio cabinet, brass guard, rivits, and full length tang, wood handles. Any information or help in identifying the era it is from, etc will be greatfully appreciated. My Grandmother was, as am I a decendant of Col. Garret Van Meter of Revolutionary war fame. I wonder if this knife could be from that era.
