Large patchwork vase with bubbles

Hello everyone! I bought this vase from a nice, older gentleman, who thought this was an important piece of glass. It's rather large (10"/25 cm tall and ~9"/ 23cm wide) and very heavy (~11lbs/ 5 kg). It's a patchwork design, partially with bubbles and applied metal foil. The bottom shows heavy scratching, but used to be polished, i guess. I could imagine there was a mark or a signature originally, but i can't find anything. I would love to find out more about this piece. Thanks in advance! :)
