Stoneware? Doll head

Morning, this is kind of a strange one. This doll head was picked at a GWO. I thought it was a rock at first, then after noticing it was a head, I found a note tucked inside. I think the note says. "Stoneware Head dug up on old yarnel property soddy" What do you think. Would you have picked it up or cast it back? Is it a manufactured doll head or homemade or Native American maybe??
