I inherited this cabinet from my Aunt who owned it for at least 75 years. It was old when she bought it. The painted panel in front is lovely and the photos don't do it justice. I think it is walnut (not sure). I would like to know if it is Italian or something else. Is it a reproduction? It does have a secret compartment I don't know if you can tell from the photos. Any information would be very welcome! It's not going anywhere but if it has value I would like to insure it. Thank you!
Its a real beaute, looks Italian Renaissance Revival, late 1700's. Looks also to have been refinished at one time. I always collected but preferred Empire style. I have never seen one with a painting before, it would likely have been added later. I know that I would have bought this if it ever came up in my area !~
