1889 Etching "Motherhood" by Edouard Bernard Debat-Ponsan. My mom brought this home from the church's salvage shop in 1986. It was torn in two places, but her framer did a decent job of piecing it back together. The art is (12 x 16 inches) and the frame is (18 x 22 1/2 inches)

My question, or "Mystery" is how many prints were made, and were they numbered and signed, and were there second, and third, etc. printings? Or were signed limited editions not in vogue in the 1880s? Or maybe it wasn't possible because the etched plate would wear out so quickly?
Anyhow, it would be nice to know because I'm trying to avoid taking the frame apart to check the margins and back of the etching for this information, if it even exists...
