Was walking my dog other day came across this old quarter on on the side of the street….On back has Connecticut 1788 charter Oak not the best condition…. would like to know the year circa don’t think it’s 1788 thank you for any information



The Connecticut charter oak quarter was minted in 1999
date is under the Oak Tree

Reeling, This is one of my favorites of the 50 State Quarters, because of that beautiful tree:

What I find interesting about the damage to the coin is that the section of the reverse that normally contains the mint year, and the motto "E PLURIBUS UNUM" is completely scratched, and unreadable.
I'd be tempted to say that it was deliberate damage, except that there is quite a bit of damage elsewhere on the coin.

So it was in one of those little plastic bags that you would see at a coin dealer shop?
Hmmm. I do begin to wonder if some dishonest idiot didn't deface it in an attempt to pass it off as something rare.
