Just to clear up any possible confusion Athearn is the manufacturer of the model and the model is of an Alco locomotive. This is a B unit which is locomotive witth no cab, sometimes called a booster. The real thing is a 6 axle unit with a 2000 HP motor which was powerful for the time. These were made from 1946 through 1950, the real thing that is. The model has been produced for decades.
B units were popular with passenger trains as they match the streamlined look of the cars.
