This past week I became aware of the beam of scope antenna, use mainly in the 40s . The point was to have an antenna contained within the radio cabinet rather than have a wire to some wire outside, as was the case in earlier twenties and thirties radios. Particularly if short wave was desired.
Not a particularly rare or valuable radio. Noone wants these consoles anymore. Myself I got it, mainly for that beam o scope thingy.
Regardless, its mine now, and by Xmas it will be fully restored. The person I got it from definitely had deep feeling for this old thing. You see it was her father's radio since new. He was born in the late 1800s. Unknown to me arrangement were made and I was waiting outside her house for about an hour before she appeared. All went well. We loaded the radio cabinet into my vehicle with her help even. As we parted, she says to me...ignore that email I sent this morning, if you haven't read it.
When I got home I read that email.
Her daughter didn't want granddad's radio to be sold off. She went on to say sorry the deal is cancelled.
What to do, but make her this consession. In thanking her for the radio, I said I would send through a video by xmas of the refurbished radio playing music. That made her glad. She said she is now excited to hear this old thing come to life. Her dad's pride and joy.

One minor correction is the title model. This chassis is a jk66. Sorry about the wrong information on the title.
