An antique I thought I’d never come across in a thrift shop. But things have changed.
In wonderful condition with a jewelled border and fabulous gilding. A hand painted view of Glencoe. These days it has become one of the great tourist spots in Scotland for those who enjoy hiking in the highlands. A scene of a massacre of the Macdonald’s in 1692 and more lately the site of some scenes in the Harrry Potter movies ….. the background to Hagrid’s hut. Argyl idyll. !!! The Coalport mark means it is post 1881 and pre-1939. No signature just the title Glencoe hand written on the back in red.
W : 23.5 cm or 9.25"
