These are the so called "Saddle Horn Fence Tools" made by Birch and Glaskin. The first tool was patented in 1888 by James Halstead Birch of Platisburg, MS. The Second tool was patented in 1945 by James Birch Glaskin of Colo. Springs, CO. These were designed to be carried in the pants pocket, no mention in the ads or patents of saddle or horse.
