This is a step on foot pedal to open oily rag disposal container common in the 50's-60's in gas stations (maybe even earlier and later.

As I commented on your other post with this in the background I used one for oily rags for yrs in the lawnmower shop I managed. Its burned in my memory stepping on it. Now I'm gonna look for one to put in my new shop. Thanks for posting.

I work in an assembly plant and we still use these type containers. Our plant has been around for 20-25 years and I always remember seeing them around. We use them for recycling rags. Some of the ones we have look new, and I am not sure that we can still get them. I can try and locate a name for the company for you EJW-54 or anyone else that might be interested, just a thought !
