Vintage Teapot

I have been putting items on here as I come across them at thrift stores and I see this pot every day and have never inquired about it. I bought it 'bout 12 yrs ago at an antique store in my hometown, don't remember how much I paid (not much I'm sure!!) but I have just loved it! The detail is incredible and it has some Asian markings which I have absolutely no idea what they mean!! It is heavy and to me it looks like pewter, it stands about 5 1/8", I have never put a cleaning chemical to it not knowing exactly what kind of metal it is.....Anybody out there have some information for me??
