    This Navy buckle was given to me several years ago by a retired Navy Senior Chief Petty Officer. He was on the USS Van Voorhis DE 1028 a Destoryer Escort that was built in 1955 and sold for scrap in 1973.

      8 August 1964: Reassigned as flagship for CortRon 8 at Newport, R.I.

      15 June 1973: Sold for scrapping to the Union Minerals and Alloys Corp., of New York City, N.Y.
