I do love Strombergshyttan stuff, but it is so difficult to date it! It is hard to tell when they were made. Some designs look really 30s and ArtDéco-ish and it's known Gerda Strömberg started designing for her company in 1933, the very same year she and her husband Edvard created it. Also, apart from some pieces designed by Gunnar Nylund is really difficult to identify the designers: Gerda Strömberg, Asta Strömberg...
Could anyone help with thi item? By the way, it's got the logo of the ESSO petroleum company at the bottom... probably a company gift
Do you mean the book about Swedish glass factories? We haven't got it. We looked for it at the other house and was anywhere to be found... he thinks he might have got rid of it :/ ach!
This one was bought as Gerda S's design and it really has this 30s look... I would think the same about the two thick walled glasses (http://www.collectorsweekly.com/stories/47228-two-strmbergshyttan-heavy-vases?in=user) and then there's the ashtray and cigarette-holder sets, which I think to be very 30s, not 50s... what do you think? At some point the very simple geometrical shapes link perfectly to the Modern style in the 30s...
I've always believed these designs come from the early 50s, but I'm starting to think they are earlier designs... or at least a big part of them are.
I wish a specialist in Strömbershyttan could read this and help :)

Hi, the catalogue number for this shaker: E200
I think it's a Gerda Stromberg design. E199 I know is of Gerda design (not a shaker but a driven decanter with applied decoration in the neck and that my father attributetd to Gerda). A shaker with lower number E6 and with likely design is also hers from the 1930's. Maybe it's possible that Asta Stromberg later has developed this design to the E200, but that is only a speculation?
Thanks so much, rebessin!!! My guess has always been that the number E200 belonged to the 1950s... didn't Gerda stopped designening by then? It should be then Asta's "getting inspired" by her mother in law's early designs for the factory? BUT if your father attributed E199 to Gerda's, then this could be too :)
Yoy can have probably the right solution, that Asta is the author to this shaker astrohungaro. Gerda has designed number E54 and E131, similar to my E199 but in a little wider shape. I think Asta took many of Gerdas designs and renewed them. My father may well have interpreted the model E199 as E54/131 when he wrote down about this decanter E199? Asta Stromberg's first work as a designer is supposed to have been renewing old models of Gerda.
Hi austrohungaro, hej rebessin! I've got a very similar shaker to yours, austrohungaro, though it is not facetted but round. As far as I know it carries the number E180 and is a design from the 1940s by Gerda Strömberg (is that correct, rebessin, stämmer det?) - you can find it here:

Hi designqvist! I have examined the catalogs again and come to the following: Your shaker E180 is for sure not earlier than 1954. In my catalogue from 1954 the numbers in the list of caraff an shakers end at E171. I think even this is an Asta Stromberg design from the 1950's.
Hi rebessin, and thanks for this info! I picked up the information on the E180-shaker on antikviteter.net where somebody called "Bello" dated the shaker to somewhen in the 40s, saying it to be a design by Gerda Strömberg: http://www.antikviteter.net/antikprat/messages/188/308173.html

...hm, this is a good idea, austrohungaro, bur I fear I wouldn't have the time to administer a FB-forum. I'm running my shop all alone and know my limits. But you and rebessin maybe? I'd be your first member :)
A FB group can have several administrators, it's not just a person's work... :)
...yes, I'm aware of that but you know, being a one woman show... If I'd consider to do anything on FB I'd at first hand go there with my shop designqvist, and if I'd have energies for more FB-activities on a responsible level I'd be available for the job of a co-administrator. But I really do hope that somebody will create a FB group about Strömbergshyttan! There are a few Swedish glass groups on FB already (Åseda, Lindshammar, Gullaskruf, Reijmyre). Maybe Strömbergshyttan comes next ;) What about you and rebessin? A double act?
I already have the Holmegaard group on Facebook which I'm afraid isn't as active as it should be... but having another one for Strömbergshyttan would be fine, if I get somebody elses's collaboration :) Please rebessin, will you please say yes?

Unfortunately, I probably do not have time for any FB group. Neither is a member of the FB at all and have enough other projects outside of cyberspace. I work with photography and exhibit my pictures periodically. For example here:

Hi again, austrohungaro! This is just a suggestion, but you could ask Benny Movarp from Sweden for a shared administration of a FB group about Strömbergshyttan. He's already in charge of several groups on FB, like "Glas från Lindshammar", and I even think you are a member, aren't you? Don't know if he'll be happy about me bringing him into the game, though. He seems to be highly engaged in so many forums, groups, and blogs already. But maybe he knows somebody else who is good at Strömbergshyttan and interested in leading a FB group. If you don't want to do it alone it could be worth a try...

Edit: Quotes and reproduction of smaller parts can of course always be made, without the permission of the author/copyright holder. Picture usage however always require that the author must be consulted if they are used in public or in print/online.
