Does anyone have any idea what Asian country of origin this vase is from, and how old it is? This vase is a beautiful slateblue glaze with a large crackle glaze. It measures about 7 1/2" high by roughly 4 1/2" at the widest point. The opening is 1 3/4" with a rim that is 3 1/8" across x 1/2" thick before it tapers down to a slightly narrow neck. There is a row of large & small 'nodules' that encircle the top area of the bulbous body and it ends in a 2 1/2" diameter X 1/2" high footed base. It is unmarked on the bottom. I would appreciate any information someone could provide. Thank you so much.

hi. if the crackle glaze is true it definitely is an old vase, more than 50 years old. you can know about the glaze by using a jeweler's magnifier. you should see a hair-thin-deep incision in the porcelain.

Thank you so much for the information on my vase. I did just now in fact, look at it with a jeweler's loupe and there are indeed hair line 'cracks' along each dark line. And the identification as Chinese helps immensely as well. At least it gives me a starting place for a bit more research.

Marios, is this glaze a CELADON? I've seen celadon glazes in a multitude of green shades but never in blue. Is this color and style specific to a certain region of China and does it have a specific name? Thanks
