Norman Orr, Fillmore card, BG-257-258

Here's an oversize postcard for a couple of weekend's worth of shows at the Fillmore West in San Francisco, November, 1970. It is Thanksgiving themed, which accounts for the way in which the Native American figure in the center, who's breaking an arrow, appears to be showing his displeasure (at the time, a group of Native Americans were living on Alcatraz in San Francisco Bay as a protest over the broken treaties).

Norman Orr produced only a dozen or so gorgeous pieces for Bill Graham, but then pretty much hung up his brushes and pursued a career in woodworking (he's equally amazing at that).

This card, which has a horizontal fold because it was mailed to me, is probably most notable for the fact that Black Sabbath was the opening act during one of the two weekends advertised. Joe Walsh was with James Gang at the time. The following weekend was a classic Bill Graham favorites line up.
