Mohawk motor oil can..

This is a 2 gallon Mohawk motor oil can. I found it at a antique store, it looks to be in ok shape, it has a couple of dings here and there but it has bright colors. I don't know anything about it!! I think it's from the fifty's ???? but not sure..If anybody can help me out i would appreciate any information you can give me.. Thanks!!!
