Trying to find out more about this cameo. It is amethyst, gold, and has pearls. Anyone know what era, where it could have been made?

just a corretion on terminology to help in your search for more information -- this is not a cameo as that carvings on shells, lava or coral --carved gem stones are known as an intaglio -- would guess english -- perhaps from the victorian period

Actually, there are hardstone cameos. Intaglio has the image carved into the stone, so that it appears lower than the main surface, and the cameo has a raised design.

Seeing a picture of the back and a closeup of the front could help with the dating.

Dear Davyd286 - I cannot find a way to add a picture of the back without posting another listing of the same item - which they will then remove because it will come up as a duplicate.

Go to your Dashboard and poke around - there's a way to add or replace photos.
