This item which I presume is a vase is 14" tall, 7" wide at bottom and 4 1/2" wide at top. It is marked "Bavarian" on the bottom and signed on the bottom front "Alfred". It was owned by my husband's grandmother who married sometime just before 1920. We don't know where or when she acquired this piece. I've been unable to identify it further or find and information about it. Anybody?

I collect "Bavaria" porcelain and run frequently into the same problem. Bavaria is a "collective" name for porcelain produced in this area of Germany. Most established firms mark their products in recent times with a name or a mark in addtion to "Bavaria." Good luck finding out more.
