This is one of two pieces of antique pottery that were left in an old house that I bought. I couldn't identify who made it. It is about 14 inches tall, and wide. It's heavy. It says USA on the bottom. There is also a crown on it with the number 3 inside. Any help with telling me more about this would be greatly appreciated.

      The 3 means three gallons.

Looks like a Ransbottom mark. Here is an example:

I didn't even think about it meaning 3 gallons. Thanks, SMD, for the info.
Also, thanks, tikiray, that mark looks identical. I'm new to this site, and I appreciate all of your help!

My mom had all sizes of these up to 20 gallon she made her pickles in. They are great crocks!
