The first modern steel scissors were made in the late 1700's, and countless varieties have since been produced (some were given out as commemorative keepsakes at important gatherings and events). Collectors of vintage sewing items run the gamut from those who appreciate the engineering of early machines, to style-oriented folks who collect vintage patterns, to those who just want to sew.
