Bought this on ebay because i was enamoured of the nouveau whiplash metal mount . Think i probably paid way too much for it though -- seems like the glass is very low quality. Anyone seen other pieces like this?

I think what bothers me is that top edge -- doesn't look nicely finished like most good art glass -- and pretty much all of the bohemian glass I've looked at. I read somewhere that that's a bad sign :(

Hello nouveau26...the top is perfectly normal and many without 'mounts' around them would have had grills or frogs over the top so wouldn't have been seen but yours looks good and because of the shape of the top I would say it unlikely wouldn't have had one...the mount would probably have been put on after as normally the glass houses didn't do there own..it's perfect and beautiful...:-)

Wonderful bat wing mount. Likely German or Bohemian mount manufacture, while the glass appears to be Kralik. Nothing low quality about it.
