This is an Arthur & Bond Japanese Meiji sterling teaset. The double-walled tray had to be totally disassembled to remove the handle dents. That included removing the outer soldered bezel and inner soldered rim securing the wooden bottom. The tray also required two new sets of whiskers for the dragons and major cracks welded with sterling. The kettle's upper handle parts were reattached where they cross and new pre-ban ivory insulators installed. Other pieces needed new whiskers and dents removed. The entire set required various degrees of repatination, hand polishing, and cleaning.
