This large filigree brooch is unmarked but I am certain that it is silver. It needs a little bit of TLC because some parts in the centre of the brooch seem to be a bit bent. But I think that should be easy to fix.

    Thanks for looking:)

I generally find this style is either Chinese or Japanese....is that what you have found Freiheit?

Very interesting, racer4four! I posted a pcture of my other filigree brooches to show the size and the different styles. This one really looks a bit differen but it would have never crossed my mind to check out Chinese or Japanese pieces
Thanks a lot for your hint!

Thanks for your kind comment, rucklczglass. I will entertain myself trying to pull them up on a quiet day. I guess one needs a steady hand for that - LOL
Your idea about being Portuguese makes sense too. I was also looking into Mexican pieces but they seem to be marked.

And there might be many more places producing nice silver filigree pieces. I went some years ago to Paraguay and visited a town called Luque. There I found a main street with lots of workshops and stores making and selling beautiful silver filigree jewelry.

They have a very interesting culture. We loved it there and almost moved to Paraguay. I don't think it would have been such a good idea, though.
Here are some rings I bought there. One can find them at almost every street corner for less that $5 can. http://www.collectorsweekly.com/stories/112448-925-silver-filigree-rings-hand-made-in-p
They also had beautiful filigree butterflies. I regret not getting one of those:(
