    I found this today at Urban Ore in Berkeley. It's got some age - probably early 20th century. it's a teapot! it came with a cover, but it's not right for it. i'll have to keep my eyes open for the right one.

      You come across the coolest stuff!
      Do u think the tea pot and basket were meant to be used together to keep a meal and tea hot, such as for a picnic or when taking a meal to someone?
      Maybe boiling hot tea in the pot would radiate some heat into the basket and work as a food warmer.

      yes Watchsearcher - they really do go together. i think that the lining could even keep the contents warm or hot. thanks Watch, Newfld, and Rustypearl!! it's Chinese.
