Mintage is capped at 10,000 units marking an increase of 1,000 from last year’s issue. Struck in 22-karat gold, the American Eagle One Ounce Gold Uncirculated Coins are collector versions of the official United States Mint American Eagle Gold Bullion Coin.
This Gold coin is the start of my collection of Gold and Silver U.S. coins. I wanted to start my collection with the Liberty Head Silver Dollar or Morgan silver Dollars from 1878 to 1921 and so the collection is based on those coins.

I have a few of the earlier dates and many 1/10 Oz gold coins. My favorite purchase back in the mid 2000s was a few 1 Oz silver dollars with a 1/10 Oz (5 dollar) gold coin for a 100 bucks.
I carry a few 5 dollar (1/10 oz) gold coins in my wallet as bug out currency.

Thank you clockerman, I wondered if you had seen those liberty head silver dollers from 1878 to about 1904 or so that went up for sale also, just after christmas ?? Seemed too good to be true !~
this was designed in a studio very close to the home where i grew up - in Cornish, NH - about 1/2 mile.
