This decanter I received as a present from Carlos last Christmas (Do you remember this post? http://www.collectorsweekly.com/stories/41826-this-years-christmas-presents?in=user). In factwe bought it together in what was one of the best stores for glassware and pottery in the Madrid of the 1950s.
A month or so later I went back in search of any matching glasses and there they were: 5 sample glasses waiting for me at the ridiculous price of 15 euros for the whole lot. Of course I got them! Unfortunately one of them broke while washing it... the stem is so thin it took a little clumsy movement of my fingers to break it in two.
I hope I'll find the remaing glasses some time soon, but meanwhileI lovelooking at this incomplete set... so beautiful!
Thanks Bellin. I don't have much literature about the subject but will try and look for them in my books when I'm home. So far I don't know what they can be, but let's see if the books can tell something :)
Lovely original decanter design. I have two of these one smokey and one clear. Jealous yours still has the label, I have never seen that before.
I got it from a shop that had had it in storage from the 1950s... it's normal they keep the original labels :) As for the glases, they have 5 samples of different models... unfortunately I broke one while washing it. Those stems are so incredibly thin!
sorry !! but a stunning set!!!
Thanks Sean... I even thought I was being careful :'( It was the second smaller size. If you take a look at the second picture you can see there's a "size gap" between the smallest glass and the next bigger one. :(
OH yes there is !!! youll find another one!! :)
Thanks for your love AGH and HO2CULTCHA!!!
