This is definately one of my favorites, and another example of Loetz Tri-Fold shape, with dimpled sides; similar to my Medici vase (see other posts). This one takes it one step further; with an organic wavy rim that is quite unique in my experience, but Loetz all the way. The combination of gold and blue is punctuated by the skillfully executed Maxima decor, most evident on the lower third of the exterior surface. With the grotesque waves of the glass criss-crossed with equally wild undulations of color it is a wonderful example of the pinnacle of the glassmakers art! I am still amazed at how "knarly" this vase is, and yet so beautiful. Art Nouveau to the max!
