Here is a nice little cabinet piece (about 5.25" tall) from Kralik in their practically trademarked pink glatt with gold iridescence (these are typically called "silberiris", but the iridescence here is decidedly gold, not silver), with an additional flourish- an art nouveau motif applied with a brush in what looks like black decorator's ink. I'm not sure of the technique involved - it looks like (under magnification) that the iridescent finish was partially removed (by turning or wiping?) in order to allow some of the pink to show through and form a canvas for the design to be painted on. It's the only Kralik glatt iridescent piece that I have ever seen decorated in this way!

THere is one in passau.. I'll send you a pic. I had to sit on my hands not to bid on this one :)
Alisa, I had actually handled this piece twice before - at the last couple of D.C. Big Fleas - the seller is a nice fellow - his show price (even negotiated down) was higher than what I wound up paying for it on eBay. Sometimes patience is indeed a virtue! I would love to see the Passau photo!
nice! I sent the pic. it's not identical or anything but it's the same kind of decoration.
I got another lead on a job. If I ever get hired somewhere again I'll be a lot more competition than I am now. LOL.
If I get off my rump and sell some stuff I will be able to turn around and buy some of the great pieces I've been seeing lately, too... :)
I had a really good month last month selling stuff but i spent it all.. :( LOL
I sold that broken Harrach Centerpiece and it shattered in shipment. I thought of you and "i'll never ship that kind of thing again" you were right of course. It just seemed like such a shame being in a box.
Alisa, I read the plaque on the PMC photo you sent, and it refers to the iridescent finish as (per google translate) "silver-yellow" melted powder... sure looks gold to me :)
Some of them look a lot more silver than gold and some look a lot more gold than silver. I wonder if part of it has to do with the underlaying glass color.
I know with loetz some of them claim to have a silver gold finish and I see the gold a lot more than the silver.
Sorry to hear about the centerpiece - just wasn't meant, I guess. I have a broken Harrach ewer with gorgeous hand painting that I have held onto that I think I'm going to just have to let go of. Sometimes you just have to... (I can't even say it)
yeah, I had to try to give it a home rather than just toss it even if I had to end up paying a little for the gamble. I couldn't do it.
I have a larger one, also pink, with the remnant of a pastry bag design. I'll post it, if I haven't already.
