    I'm posting this for Jono, who has the same item. I'd say – an 'uneducated' guess, that yours would possibly be intended to keep as a decorative piece because of the nicer finish, the more detailed carving, and the charm on the end. I may be wrong but I don't think I'd want to dip yours in chocolate or 'steaming anything' for fear of spoiling it.

    They are really interesting looking, and while we both have the same item – mine truly is just a very fancy wooden spoon! (Trade ya? Lol!) Enjoy your find – it's beautiful!
