All I know is this chair goes back 7 generations in my family, according to my grandmother.
Any help with more info would be particularly helpful and appreciated so we can document it!!
The best I can tell is it has a Victorian style to it. I know little about antique furniture :(

might be a Eastlake rocker

I know its a platform rocker as well. I neglected to include that. I looked for some sort of markings that would tell me at least where it was made but no luck, so I have a feeling that the design may give it away. It does appear to be in the same vein as the Eastlake rockers I saw online, but couldnt find anything identical.
Good to see this web site finally learned how to put a picture right side up. Put your picture in Google images and you will find plenty of examples of this chair. There is even two photos with the same wall paint, same baseboards and even the same number of tacks on the upholstery. The chair plans are available on the internet and so are the springs that make it rock. I seriously doubt you can trace the chair because it was reproduced so frequently. It could be 1890 or it could be 1950 or later.

I'm trying to find information on my grandmother's chair which recently went missing.
Just wanted to tell you the chair is nearly identical to her chair. It was brought over from England when my grandmother's family immigrated to the US. I have no idea when though.
Was the chair reupholstered ? I recently saw a similar chair at the "Rose Tree Museum" in Tombstone, AZ which had the same material as my grandmother's chair but was missing the material on the armrests.
