i bought this pendant yesterday at a thrift store. i paid $4 for it. it is in really good shape, except there are a couple chips at the top where the gold loop is screwed into the jet / onyx and the bale is also missing. the glass covered compartment on the back is removable. inside i found what i thought to be a piece of woven fabric. it is black. could it be hair?

      Nice find!
The inside black piece is fabric for sure, a kind of "gros grain" silk ribbon.
The leaf on the front is ivy, symbolism for attachment.
