I have two of the plates and they are not completely identical due to hand painting, but are the same design. I currently have no idea whether they're Chinese or Japanese. I believe they're quite old because they are not stamped and the pottery itself has crazing throughout. The rim underneath the plate is worn and has turned grey in colour (possibly due to age). The hand painted detail is layered and is raised in places.
If anyone has any information on the plates, or an indication of their age and origin, I'd love to know!
    Thank you,
    G&Mac

Thank you vetraio50. I have had a look and found a vase with very similar design, detail and colour. There is no indication of the age on there so I will keep searching.

      Thanks again :)
