16" composition boy doll belonged to my Father who was born in 1908.
Bisque head with bisque hands. Cloth body, legs, and arms.
Plaid cotton Clothing looks like knickers with belt
    Inherited doll from parents.
Appears to be laughing with no teeth. Hair has a raised cowlick on top of head. Hair is combed to the heads right.

We would like information re: mold numer and name of doll.
Number on back of head has an ink stamp believed to be 119 with the number 4 molded into the head. We have unable to find this number in our research. At the base of the bisque head is the word Germany and the square Heubach marking.

Gebrüder Heubach doll mark and is a character doll . The mold number will be under leather or cloth below their stamp we have pulled it down gently to see number if is important . He has intaglio eyes (painted) my question is does it look like he had teeth at one time or is mouth smooth like none were ever there ?

Can you add a close up of face ?
    3. Manikin Manikin, 8 years ago
He appears to be bisque from photo not composition so a close up will help me a lot

Thx. Mold #8221; no teeth ever; mouth smooth. By "composition", I meant bisque head, cloth body. Thanks for all your assistance.
I can't see how to add another picture! Sorry.

Thank you for posting face and glad you found his mold number under logo . Are you sure it is 8221 ? If so he is a rare mark and quite a valuable doll . I was trying to find a photo of him for you but not showing up in books that I have looked at so far .Gebrüder Heubach made some wonderful character face dolls and they are always sought after and yours is not common to find . I will keep looking at books I have packed just need to be sure last number is a 1 or 7

The character dolls made by Gebruder Heubach were often modeled after babies and children known by those working in the German factory where they were produced, and crafted by artisans trained as sculptors. I have searched several books for your doll and come up with nothing although they used many many numbers molds yours seems to be a rare one as not mentioned or logged in known mold . So you have a wonderful rare doll . And They don't all have names just called by mold number and yours is 8221 !! :-)

These dolls date early 1900's the character faces like yours vs what we call a dolly face doll rather a generic face with little expression

oh and the 4 is size number for head and stamped numbers like yours in green have been found on their dolls but no meaning has been attached to why it is there .

In Linda Edward "Doll Values; 9th Edition" book, the info given for My #8221 says "too few in database for a reliable range".

Is there a database or doll museum that I can add my doll and pictures too?
      Thanks

Yes but you need excellent clear photo's . I have submitted photo's for publishing they are very fussy about quality . I have a few contacts and actually that might get it in the Blue Book for dolls by Jan Faulk . I told you he was so rare not even a photo of him in all my books and I have a very large library of books . You can email me at manikin1234@hotmail.com and I will try and get him in a book courtesy of ...then your name

You need a blank background and for some reason they like it blue . Get a heavy dark blue poster board to have him in front of . Take a detail clear photo of face . marking and whole doll. You need a good camera so borrow one if you have to or have someone take the photo's for. He belongs in a book . Need several photo's and different angles of head . Put on a doll stand so he is face on with camera not lying own . I get my best photo's outside you don't want a flash .

I have arranged with world known doll person to look at him and he can proceed from there so keep me updated on photo's ok
