I've had this blanket/rug for some time and found it at a yard sale in Denver Colorado appx. 10 years ago. It measures appx. 4 by 4 foot. The blanket is actually two textiles joined down the center. I believe it is wool. In good to fair condition with some holes as pictured but in clean condition. I've tried to do some research and think it may be a Rio Grande textile, not Navajo. I think the star is called a Vallero. I am unsure of it's age and exact area of manufacture. Any and all information would be very much appreciated.

It's Mexican, called a Texcoco, after the region where this classic design originated. They always have a band containing the iconic "S" or "5" pattern, surrounding a central pattern, usually a diamond shape, but in this case a Vallero star, and striped bands on the ends. Blue, black, and white are traditionally the most common colors.

Thanks very much for your expertise. It is a great blanket and I enjoy having it. I wondered if there were any way to estimate the age? I assume it is perhaps 1950s or so but perhaps earlier? Thanks again and Happy 2016.
