this painting is based on the songs of Hiawatha by Henry Wadsworth Longfellow,, is signed and dated JMR 1919 on the tree,, my research led me to joseph mason reeves,,, east coast + ny,, later California,, schooled in philidelphi,, + Julien academy,,, this painting is just fantastic,, actually it had sold two different times- 1 as not signed,,, 2nd time as signed JME--- wrong again;;; = JMR I believe this to be a monumental piece by him
