This is Convict Lake, California. It is a hand painted photograph by Stephen H. Willard. Willard was a photographer and naturalist. He hand painted his photographs on a paper process he developed. The medium is oil paint over his photograph. Although the photograph image is copyrighted, each piece is original as he painted each one by hand.

His images are of southern California, he was very fond of the desert.
