    This censer was brought back by a friend's father, who worked in China in late 19th - early 20th century. Make of case bronze. Very heavy. How can I find out what the characters on the bottom mean? Any info or direction would be appreciated.

      this is a type of overseer release

      Da Ming Xuande ? Jiandu Gongbu guanchen Wu Bangzuo zao(Made by Wu Bangzuo,overseer of the secretary of labour ? in the 5th year of Xuande of the Great Ming, so something like 1432'

      its an attribution to wuying Hall

      the purpose is to guarantee an almost divine quality

      actually the vase is from the 20 century the whole vase is bogus the clearance is zuande +6 , which is 1431
