I bought this from a small whole in the wall shop. I had my eye on it for about 8 yrs, recently the price was reduced by more than half so I bought it. It has no markings, is about 33 inches tall and weighs about 105 lbs. Any ideas on where i can get some information?

That's really lovely! I tried a Google Image search but nothing came up. Too bad there is no foundry mark or artist name anywhere.
It looks like it has been painted over and the actual metal is probably spelter.
Thank you for your insight, what gives the impression it is spelter? I am looking to learn.
a Chinese copy of a Vienna bronze? maybe?
