I purchased this stunning bronze / brass piece in a lot with a 19th century Gregoire bronze. I don't know the maker, but it is so impressive and looks to be early with tell tale blue oxidation to the base. Cat looks brass? I am hoping someone recognizes the styling to maybe give me an idea of when or where it originated. Any help that you can give me would be greatly appreciated.
I agree, I was not able to find anything like it after an exhaustive search. I wonder if it has an Egyptian flavor???
Curious, would a cigarette fit in it??
Thank you all for the comments. It looks about perfect for cigarettes, but I don't have one to measure. The interior measurements of the box is 3 3/8" tapering smaller at the bottom at 3 1/4".
