i'm finally getting around to getting a post on here, so i thought it'd only be proper to give my new favorite gal the spot.

so, jumeaus were normally so wildly out of my college student budget, that i had never really bothered to look for them, nor would i expect to see a french doll somewhere local. lo and behold i spied this doll in a local antique shop laying down in a cabinet with modern clothes on and immediately had to do a double take. i took a closer look at her tag which had her listed as "German Doll" and then probably lost a few years off my life when my heart stopped working after seeing she was priced at $225. i instantly recognized her as having that french flair about her and took a closer look at her. i fell in love with her face and just couldn't leave her there!

in respect to her characteristics, she is minimally marked (with an X and a size number of 8) like many tete jumeaus i've seen after research on the internet and some help from the kind people on the dollreference forums. she has a styled human hair wig, stationary eyes, and is around 20'' tall. she has definitely been considering a sparse portion of her wig has been supplemented with a scrap of antique brown tapestry, but must have been kept safe, as her bisque is in great shape an her body has fared well, too. one other surprise i got was when i took off her clothing from the antique store. she has what appears to be her original corset, so i've included a picture of its inner stamp, complete with address!

Beautiful !! can you please post the markings on her ? You can make part 2 of listing with new post or edit and replace one of the ones posted with photo of marking . Can you tell me is she wearing a necklace around neck ? I would also like to see lower body also from waist down . Thanks :-) Welcome to CW

What year do you think this was made? At some point (1915?) the corset was becoming widely frowned upon so just curious.

      Hi everyone!

@collectomaniac: i personally think she is late 19th to very early 20th century, as the open mouthed jumeaus were introduced later.

@manikin: I'm not home for the day, but when I get back I'll definitely get a second post up for you to check out. Four pictures just isn't enough for her haha. Yes she is wearing a necklace. I happened to already have a little necklace that said "bebe" that I thought fit her well.

Thanks I would be very interested in seeing her markings :-) And yes she would date later with open mouth 1880-1900 if a Jumeau after that Jumeau became part of SFBJ (Société Française de Fabrication de Bébés et Jouets; also referred to as S.F.B.J.) which was the last of the great French dollmaking companies. They made dolls up till 1960 .

@manikin: I finally have the second post up! She is definitely not SFBJ marked, so I'm assuming she is prior to the merge.
