Question my dad put this crescent wrench on a site like ebay with a $25 reserve. He got it from his father.Two bidders went nuts and he sold it for $350. Van someone tell me why?

All of them I have seen were not intended to be used. They were for a store display and made in much fewer number.

Yours says Jamestown NY where Crescent tools started in 1907 so its quite old, you can still buy this wrench new for $166.00 so I can see why an original Jamestown one sold for so much to a tool collector.

What makes this so valuable? Ebay is full of old Crescent Wrenches with Jamestown on them that sold for under $40.00.
