I don't have much information on this item. I picked it up at a flea market and the seller had no idea what it is. It wooden with a metal band around the center of it. Each end opens and closes. There are small pads on each end that look like leather. That's really all I know about it. Would love to find out exactly what it is.
This is a jewelry makers hand vise. It is missing a wood wedge that is pushed into the back end to tighten the jaws on the work piece.
Correct, this is a device used by jewelers, the wooden wedge is missing, it is called a “ring clamp”.
