    This document was with the rear admiral sir robert Arbuthnot Collection.

    It was in a big medal box but the medal wasn't in there.

      This is Robert Arbuthnot's grandfather William Arbuthnot's letter of membership of the Freemason Lodge of Edinburgh (Mary's Chapel). Don't know if the Freemasons give out medals to new members. Maybe it was just a make shift box for the letter.
